Photos of Anne the Angel from the Bella Art Doll workshop in JoAnnA Pierotti's Moss Hill Studio Blog

I thought some of  you would like to see more photos of Anne the Angel, the one I used for my profile photo. This is Anne the Angel which I made in JoAnnA Pierotti's Bella Art Doll workshop in the fall of 2008, in her online Moss Hill Studio blog.
The members of the workshop could use any type of embellishments for their dolls.  I chose mosaics for the base and vintage crocheted items for the hat and front and back wings.
I glued a vintage button onto the crocheted piece on the back of the doll.
JoAnnA's online workshop showed videos of how to make the dolls.  She has several secrets to the success of making these stunning altered dolls.   I do have an interesting story to tell.  I had found JoAnnA's blog which can be found at :  http://www.mosshillblogs.com/    Anyway, I was unable to find her blog for another year!  And then I found the booklet Exhibition 36 which had two or three pages devoted to JoAnnA making this very doll and simple instructions on how to make it.   But I knew there had to be more to the making of the doll and the Moss Hill Studio blog site was listed in that publication, along with many other very talented altered artists works and instructions.  That is when I found out JoAnnA was giving an online workshop for the Bella Art Doll.  JoAnnA has other workshops to take such as her soldered embellished bottles.  You'll just have to take a look at her blog. She is always making something to sell in her Etsy shop or she also goes on location in various artists retreats to teach her altered art designs in person across the country. Enjoy!

I too use my doll I created in JoAnnA's workshop as my icon. I use her eye not the whole doll. What a fun class that was to take.

Hey Lady, Love the way your "Class Project" came out, I think JoAnnA is Fabulous, loved her class, I think she is working on some new Workshops now.... can't wait to see what she comes up with~ How have you been? How is Cali? Weather here has been Cold then Mild again.... some rain, but the trees are all in full color & will be dropping in the next few weeks, then the Dreaded Winter sets in! Not a fan of Snow & Ice, but for now, this is where I stay! I am working on a special order doll right now, I have till Thanksgiving, so I will be posting some photos when it gets to a point that I like ~ Talk soon, Take Care....

Oh, wow! She’s really pretty. I love the color of her eyes. You should think of selling these. I LOVE how you made the back of her so pretty as well. So often people will overlook a detail like that. It’s nice when you can display something like this ANYWHERE in your home, thanks to it being pretty on all sides.

-----------------------------

As for my ‘lusty guy banners’ …. (I think I’ll call them that from now on. Lol! I like it)… banners like that are VERY popular on an author’s website that I frequent. Wallpapers and banners dedicated to the characters in her books, etc are a really big deal over there.

And about your book - It sounds like you’re halfway there. That quote is so true: “It all begins with a single word.” It looks like you have the most difficult part behind you. Now that the meat of your story is there, just put it all together . Of course, after that - if you want to publish it - the real torture begins… finding a literary agent. :p

And that is so awesome about your son making that song. When my brother was 16, he was really into teaching himself music and computer programs. He had this really amazing keyboard which is part of a really fancy music computer program. The keyboard does all different instrumental sounds; not just piano. He wrote the most fantastic song! Well, he did a few but that was our favorite because it was so epic and told a story. It was very fairytale-ish and medieval sounding. My little niece called it “The Beauty and Beast song.” Lol!

Now, this song some kid online STOLE. He posted it and said that he made it himself, garnering so much attention over it. To this day my mother and myself are so LIVID that my brother didn’t even care to call that thief on it. My brother was one of those creative types who, after their art is created and done, he completely detached himself from it.

I don’t know where he got that from, b/c my mother and myself aren’t like that at all. I’ve always said that should we ever win the lottery, we’re going to pay a live orchestra play that song. It’s really beautiful, and I’m so shocked that my brother isn’t attached to it at all.

All right, that's enough talking your ear off from me. :p

Thanks for the link. I’ll be taking a look at that in a sec. And I LOVE Anne of Green Gables!!!! Lucy Maud Montgomery was great. I loved her Emily series also. The Blue Castle was sweet, too.

As for romance novels, Lol! I’m the first to admit that there are a lot of bad one’s out there. A lot of the time you have to read a few bad romances to find the keepers. Kind of like having to kiss a few frogs before finding your prince? :p My biggest gripe is the whole ‘lust at first sight’ ordeal. DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! It’s really unfortunate b/c there really are some beautiful romance novels out there. (They’re all different, too. Not all romances are steamy and 1-dimensional and lacking in some great character development and history. That‘s why I love Karen Moning and Diana Gabaldon. DG’s loooong Outlander novels are BIG on history , and she’s very vocal about her novels not being romances. And Karen‘s Fever series are brain candy. They really make you think and she packs quite a few surprises in there. I swear I gained a few brain cells from reading the last 2 books alone. Lol! My head is still spinning. I guess that‘s why I love their books so much. These are two very SMART ladies... Diana has something like 4 degrees... and it shows in their writing. They don‘t ‘dumb-down’ their readers, ever. I love that). I’m thrilled that both their series are being made into movies. The Harry Potter people picked up Karen’s entire Fever series, so that should be interesting.

Okay, enough babbling from me. I hope I made sense, as my head is killing me right now. Have a great rest of the week! I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday.

Teresa, thank you for the lovely comment on my blog. : ) And, I agree, it IS fun meeting other doll artists. I am not part of the clay and cloth doll ning, but have wondered about it. It seems rich in resources and community. I've enjoyed looking at your blog--It too, seems to be a treasure trove of things to explore!

Be sure to stop by my blog again at the end of the week, when I'll be announcing the winner of my giveaway : )
Best wishes,

Sweet friend,

OH YES, the song on my post brings back SO MANY MEMORIES and then excavates even more artists during "our time" as youth...WE ARE GOLDEN WE ARE STARDUST, WE really do need to get back to the garden, don't we? I believe He has put eternal bliss into our hearts and that is why we want it so....if we really think about it, we really are dependent on HIM....there is a big hole in us and we are constantly seeking peace..HIS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND SPIRIT my friend, and for your encouragement in every way. LOOK UP TONIGHT....we have one more hour to enjoy the stars...Anita

GOOD EVENING MY DEAR FRIEND!

I do think Ruben has that Bulfinch text in his library, being a historian and all! I do think that we are somehow connected to the ancient thoughts because somewhere, somehow, all of the things in the WORD have come to pass, people have tried to document it, and in time, things have changed in the TRANSLATION only...but the truth remains. And what is truth does not change and one day, we shall see it as it is!!!!!!!WOW, what a fab discussion we could have!!!!! Hey, do you do SKYPE? If you have a camera on your computer, we could Skype and it is totally free. I have spoken with dear blogger pals in Europe and across the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am coughing up a storm here dearest, I am off to tea time and then BED! God be with you dear one, Anita

DEAREST!!!!!!!!!!

I just woke up and unfortunately, I do have to go to school. I am so sick though, and the only reason I am going in is because today is a big day of SPELLING TESTS for 50 children....all day long. My colleague is out at a conference today and the set-up of the four transitions that have to take place is much too complicated for a substitute to do. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SWEET COMMENTS AND WELL WISHES! AND I so wish you had Skype...AND.....I KNOW OF MISS CLARA VERY WELL, in fact, I have corresponded with her in French! I have adored her work for years, actually since I started blogging almost four years ago. I love her site and the MUSIC IS JUST ETHEREAL. I had emailed her asking what the name of her music was and if I could ever use it. She was so kind to respond twice and had said that her music was composed JUST FOR HER and that I would be welcomed to use it! BUT she said I would have to contact the composer, and I did. However, he never got back to me!!!! If you look on my sidebar, you will see a tiny gray theatre that I made with a little paper mâché doll that I made. I made it à la Miss Clara!!! She is quite the inspiration! AND MAKE A DOLL DEAREST WITH A TULLE SKIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, NOW I MUST GO. I am taking a TON of vitamin C today!!!

MUCH LOVE, Anita
