ALICE IN WONDERLAND MIXED MEDIA CANVAS UPDATE...IN PROGRESS

IT HAS BEEN A LOVELY SPRING HERE IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA.  OUR LAKES ARE FULL,  THE DROUGHT IS NOT AS BAD, BUT OUR WATER RESTRICTIONS ARE STILL IN EFFECT.

I HAD BEGUN THIS POST OVER A MONTH AGO, SO THE WEATHER HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY SINCE I POSTED THE FIRST SENTENCE.  AND, IN THE MEAN TIME, I HAD THE HARD DRIVE IN MY COMPUTER UPDATED.  ANYWAY, THE THING IS, TODAY IT WAS 105 DEGREES!  SO OUR LOVELY SPRING WEATHER HAS TAKEN A HIKE!

ON WITH THE SHOW!!!

I HAVE BEEN SLOWLY ADDING EMBELLISHMENTS, AND LAYERS OF COLOR TO MY ALICE MIXED MEDIA CANVAS.

HERE IS THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF UPDATED PHOTOS.

OH! AND REMEMBER TO 'CLICK' ON THE PHOTOS FOR A LARGER VIEW.

I ADDED A DOOR TO THE TREE FOR ANOTHER ENTRANCE INTO WONDERLAND. I PAINTED THE FENCE TWO SHADES OF PINK WHICH MATCH THE WHITE RABBIT'S HOUSE. I ADDED THE CLOCK, AND THE KING AT MIDDLE LEFT, AND TWEEDLE DEE AND TWEEDLE DUM, AND THE VINTAGE BLUE FLOWER LACE ACROSS THE FENCE.  THIS PIECE WAS A JOY TO CREATE! AND IT ALL TOOK UPON A LIFE OF ITSELF AND KIND OF CREATED ITSELF TOO, AS ARTWORK MOST OF THE TIME DOES!

THIS IS AFTER I HAD PAINTED THE BACKGROUND RED.  SO THE CANVAS WAS WHITE, THEN I ADDED A BASE LAYER OF BLUE, AND PAINTED THE RED FOR THE TOP PORTION AND GREEN FOR THE CHESSBOARD PORTION OF THE CANVAS.

This photo is the next in the progress of the canvas. The red splotch of paint was me trying to figure out what I wanted the background color to be.
THIS IS STILL IN THE VERY ROUGH STAGES OF THE CANVAS.  I AM JUST GETTING THE 'FEEL' OF WHAT THE PLACEMENT OF ILLUSTRATIONS WILL BE. THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN ABOUT A MONTH AGO.

THIS NEXT PHOTO WAS DONE THIS PAST WEEKEND.  I WAS ABLE TO GET A LOT MORE COMPLETED ON THE CANVAS THIS WEEKEND, AS I WON'T BE CARING FOR MY GRANDKIDS ALL SUMMER.
OKAY...LOOKING A LITTLE BETTER HERE. I HAVE DECIDED UPON A DEEP RED, WHICH I HAD PUT A LAYER OF TUSCAN RED, BUT WHEN IT WAS PAINTED ON TOP OF THE BLUE, THE COLOR TURNED OUT BROWN. SO,  WHEN I WENT TO A GARAGE SALE, I FOUND A LARGE BOTTLE OF BRIGHT RED, DECO ART PAINT.  SO I APPLIED THAT PAINT, AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY RICH RED.
STILL MOVING RIGHT ALONG.  I REMOVED A PORTION OF THE BOTTOM OF THE TREE TRUNK, AND NARROWED DOWN THE CHESS BOARD TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE REAL, AS A CHESS BOARD HAS EIGHT ROWS ON ALL SIDES.  IN THIS PHOTO I HAVE PAINTED THE MAD HATTER'S HAT BLACK.
AND HERE IS THE CHESHIRE CAT WHICH I ADDED COLOR TO HIM TODAY.  AND BILL THE LIZARD COMING OUT OF THE CHIMNEY OF THE WHITE RABBITS HOUSE. I STILL HAVE SOME TOUCHING UP TO DO ON THE CAT.
I HAVE ADDED ORANGE HAIR TO THE MAD HATTER, (IT LOOKS LIKE REAL HAIR BUT IT IS JUST PAINT!) AND ADDED A 'TICKET' ONTO HIS HAT WHICH READS 'LONDON' AND HAS A CLOCK FACE ON IT.  I HAVE ALSO ADDED A FLOWER BED TO THE FRONT OF THE WHITE RABBITS HOUSE IN THE BACKGROUND.  OH! AND ALSO EMBELLISHED THE TIE ON THE FRONT OF THE MAD HATTER'S CLOTHING. THE DOTS ARE TINY CLOCKS.
I WORKED ABOUT SIX HOURS ON THE CANVAS TODAY.  I ADDED THE WHITE KNIGHT ON HIS HORSE WITH ALICE WALKING BESIDE THEM ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT.  I ADDED THE JABBERWOCKY, THE ORIGINAL ONE FROM TENNIEL'S ILLUSTRATIONS NEXT TO THE TREE ON THE LEFT.

THE RED QUEEN AND WHITE RABBIT IN HIS ROYAL GARB, AND ALICE WITH THE WHOLE DECK OF CARDS COMING DOWN UPON HER SAYING 'OH! YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A PACK OF CARDS!'

I ALSO ADDED THE CATERPILLAR SITTING ON HIS MUSHROOM, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BEGINNINGS OF A FENCE, AND ADDED SIGNS ON THE TREE.  AND I ADDED A GREEN PIECE OF CORDED, VINTAGE TRIM TO THE TEA PARTY TABLE. I AM FAR FROM FINISHED YET.  STILL LOTS AND LOTS OF EMBELLISHMENTS AND TOUCH-UPS TO GO!

ALSO, THE FENCE AT THE BOTTOM IS GOING TO BE PAINTED IN ALTERNATING POSTS, WHICH WILL BE DARK PINK, EVERY OTHER ONE, LIGHT PINK TO MATCH THE WHITE RABBIT'S HOUSE.  YOU CAN JUST SEE A PEEK OF THE WHITE RABBIT ON THE LEFT, UPPER SIDE BY HIS HOUSE CHECKING HIS TIME PIECE.

AND IF YOU ARE AN ALICE IN WONDERLAND FAN, BE SURE AND CATCH THE LATEST MOVIE OUT IN THEATERS  'THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS' WITH ALL OF THE SAME, MARVELOUS, CAST OF CHARACTERS PLUS A FEW MORE NEW CHARACTERS.  I HEAR IT IS QUITE A FASCINATING MOVIE.

I HOPE TO WATCH THE MOVIE WITH FAMILY NEXT WEEK! YAY!

I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE POSTS WITH MY WONDERLAND CANVAS.  IT'S BEEN LOTS OF FUN CREATING IT.

love to everyone!

Teresa

HERE IS A PHOTO OF MY SON AND HIS DAUGHTER (MY GRANDDAUGHTER)
AND HERE IS MY DAUGHTER'S SON AND DAUGHTER (MY GRAND KIDS).  LITTLE SISTER WEARING HER SUPER GIRL CAPE, AND BIG BROTHER GIVING HER A KISS.  HE WANTED ME TO DELETE THIS PHOTO FROM MY CAMERA, AS HE HATES HAVING HIS PHOTO TAKEN, BUT, UH, UH, IT WAS TOO PRECIOUS!

Hello Miss Teresa! Nice, very nice to see you working on your creative side and having fun with it...a good example for me. I must be more creative, have been waylaid again with the researcher in me, but I think its time for some days of old Victoria Magazines and some crafting and "Pretty Days.
