MY FRIEND...JUDITH IRIS QUATE HAS PUBLISHED HER BOOK ABOUT HER SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD. ALSO, PLEASE ENJOY THE PHOTOS OF ARTIST TRADING CARDS JUDITH AND I HAVE CREATED AND HAVE BEEN TRADING WITH EACH OTHER.

THE TITLE OF JUDITH'S BOOK IS:  'OUR SPECIAL CHILD - JASON'S STORY'.

IN LIFE, YOU MEET DEAR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PROFOUND EFFECT ON YOUR LIFE, AND MY FRIEND, JUDITH IS ONE SUCH VERY LOVELY LADY.

I BECAME FRIENDS WITH JUDITH ONLINE THROUGH PURCHASING STAMPINGTON MAGAZINES FROM HER ON ETSY.  LITTLE DID WE KNOW WE HAD SO MUCH IN COMMON TO SHARE WITH EACH OTHER.  WE EXCHANGED EMAILS, AND POURED OUR HEARTS OUT TO EACH OTHER.

JUDITH WAS BLESSED WITH TWIN SONS, IN 1979.  THEY WERE TWO MONTHS EARLY, AND THERE WERE COMPLICATIONS AT BIRTH, ESPECIALLY WITH HER SON JASON.

THIS IS JASON'S STORY.  IT IS A JOURNEY OF WHAT A FAMILY EXPERIENCES WITH A CHILD WHO IS NOT BORN WITH A HANDICAP, BUT TRAUMA AT BIRTH CAUSED JASON TO EXPERIENCE DRASTIC PHYSICAL CHANGES.

JUDITH'S GOAL AND IS TO 'REACH OUT AND PROPAGATE DISABILITY AWARENESS, FROM A MOTHER'S POINT OF VIEW, TO SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS AND PARENTS CARING FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN.'  THIS IS ONE OF THE QUOTES FROM THE BACK COVER OF THE BOOK.

I TOO HAVE A SPECIAL NEEDS SON.  THIS BOOK TOUCHED MY HEART AS I KNOW THE LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE AND THE AFFECT IT HAS ON ALL INVOLVED IN A FAMILY CARING FOR A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD.  THERE ARE FRUSTRATING TIMES, AND GOOD TIMES.

JUDITH WROTE THE BOOK FROM A PERSONAL VIEWPOINT IN THE FIRST PERSON PERSPECTIVE.  HER SON JASON, DID PASS AWAY WHEN HE WAS 28 YEARS OLD.  THE BOOK IS A JOURNEY OF HIS LIFE. IT IS A VERY DEEPLY MOVING STORY TOLD WITH COMPASSION AND LOVE.

I HAVE A LINK TO JUDITH'S SITE ON MY LEFT SIDEBAR WHERE YOU CAN PURCHASE HER BOOK.

AND HERE ARE THE ATC ZENTANGLE CARDS JUDITH SENT TO ME.  WE SENT EACH OTHER THREE CARDS, AND JUDITH CHOSE THE THEME OF ZENTANGLE FOR THIS SET.
THIS ONE IS TITLED: ZENTANGLE PRINCESS, AND SHE DOES REMIND ME OF A LOVELY EGYPTIAN PRINCESS.  LOTS OF TIME AND PATIENCE IS INVOLVED IN CREATING THESE GORGEOUS ATC'S.

THIS ONE IS TITLED:  'GEARS OF LOVE' AND HAS DEPTH AND ANGLES, AND LEVELS TO IT WHICH REMINDS ME OF AN M.C. ESHER DESIGN.  IF YOU STARE AT IT YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.
THIS ONE IS 'PINK ELEPHANT' AND HAS LOTS OF DETAIL.  I LOVE IT!
HERE IS ONE OF THREE ZENTANGLE'S I CREATED AND SENT TO JUDITH.  THIS ONE IS CALLED 'EIFFEL TOWER FLOWER'.  THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT DOING ZENTANGLES AND WAS A MIND-BOGGLING EXPERIENCE.
HERE IS ANOTHER OF THREE ATC'S I SENT TO JUDITH.  I DON'T RECALL WHAT I TITLED THIS CARD.  ALL I KNOW IS, LOTS OF WORK IS INVOLVED IN CREATING THIS ART FORM.
AS YOU CAN TELL, THIS CARD IS TITLED 'HOPE'.  IT WAS THE FUNNEST ONE I MADE.  SOME PEOPLE GET VERY DETAILED WITH THE ATC'S AND VERY PRECISE.  MAYBE IF I WERE TO DO THESE ALL OVER AGAIN, I WOULD GET MY RULER OUT AND GO FOR PERFECTION! OTHERWISE, IT CAN BE ALMOST MESMERIZING TO CREATE A ZENTANGLE DESIGN.  AND AS ALL THINGS ON THE INTERNET, ONCE A DESIGN IS PUBLISHED IT IS AUTOMATICALLY COPYRIGHTED, SO PLEASE RESPECT JUDITH'S AND MY DESIGNS. NO COPYING FOR THE TIME BEING.

AND THANKS ALSO SO VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING JUDITH'S BOOK.

Hell Teresa,
What an amazing connection you have created and so many similarities - no wonder you just clicked and now sharing amazing art together.
The pink elephant is beautiful and I love yours - the first one is simply amazing for your first attempt!
I am so happy that you could share your journey with a woman in a similar situation - what wonderful support for each. So very sad too that she lost her son at 28.
Sending love and hugs,
Suzy

First of all, I love the ATCs. It's so easy to criticize our own work but to others, well, one might not change a thing!

And the book looks so powerful and meaningful. I, too, have a friend who had a special needs child (and also wrote a book). It is a tough journey but one with so much love.
