LET'S TALK ABOUT FASHION....

FINALLY...
I AM ABLE TO SIT DOWN FOR A DECENT POST!

WINTER HAS BEEN VERY BUSY WITH LIFE AND THE FLU GOT HOLD OF ME AND IT WASN'T FUN.  BUT I AM FINALLY FEELING BETTER.  THANK GOD!

ANYWAY...

I AM GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF MINE, I WILL CALL HER MISS DELLA ROSSA, WITHOUT DIVULGING HER PRIVATE LIFE.

MISS DELLA ROSSA WAS A VOGUE MODEL, IN NEW YORK BACK IN THE DAY.  SHE WAS VERY GLAMOROUS AND BEAUTIFUL.  SHE COULD HAVE BECOME AS WELL KNOWN AS MARILYN MONROE.

BUT SHE DECIDED NOT TO STAY IN THE MODELING PROFESSION AS THERE WERE SOME 'QUESTIONABLE' LIFESTYLES SHE JUST DIDN'T WANT TO BECOME A PART OF, SO SHE EVENTUALLY WENT ON TO BECOME A VERY SUCCESSFUL DRESS DESIGNER IN HER OWN STORE IN THE GARMENT DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES IN THE 1960'S.  BELOW...A MODEL SHOWS OFF MISS DELLA ROSSA'S 'BRA DRESS' IN THE LATE 1960'S.

MISS DELLA ROSSA WAS THE PREMIERE DESIGNER OF THE 'BRA DRESS' AND WITHIN WEEKS, PARIS, FRANCE; AND LONDON, ENGLAND, WERE MAKING 'KNOCK-OFFS' OF HER DESIGN.  YES THE FASHION INDUSTRY HAS NO QUALMS ABOUT 'STEALING' IDEAS AND DESIGNS FROM OTHER DESIGNERS.
MISS DELLA ROSSA HAD A MILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS AT THE TIME, WHICH WAS QUITE A LOT OF MONEY DURING THAT ERA.  HER HUSBAND UP AND LEFT HER FOR A MISTRESS AND TOOK ALL OF THE MONEY FROM THE BANK ACCOUNT.  MISS DELLA ROSSA WORKED HER FINGERS TO THE BONE EXISTING ON COFFEE AND MEAGER FARE WHILE SHE BUILT THE BUSINESS BACK UP AGAIN. MISS DELLA ROSSA COULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT HER LIFE, AS IT WAS QUITE AMAZING. 'THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A FASHION DESIGNER' I THINK SHE COULD CALL IT!

YOU CAN SEE THAT MISS DELLA ROSSA'S 'BRA DRESS' HAS SURPASSED ITS AGELESSNESS BY APPEARING CURRENTLY IN CLOTHING STORES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.  I WAS JUST IN KHOLS AND THERE IT WAS, THE 'BRA DRESS' STILL VERY MUCH IN FASHION.  BUT DO YOU THINK MISS DELLA ROSSA IS GETTING ANY ROYALTIES FOR HER ORIGINAL DESIGN? NOPE! SAD TO THINK SHE COULD HAVE BEEN A BILLIONAIRE AT THIS POINT IN TIME IF ALL THINGS WERE FAIR IN DEATH AND TAXES!

HER MOST HILARIOUS PHRASE, BORROWED FROM SOMEONE ELSE, IS 'OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES!'

LOS ANGELES - ONE OF THE FASHION CAPITALS OF THE WORLD.  WHILE YOU ARE AT IT, YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN VIEWING AN UP AND COMING FASHION SITE: THE DRESLYN.COM     ONE OF MY OTHER DEAR FRIENDS IS WORKING FOR THIS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL FASHION COMPANY AS IT WAS INITIALLY LAUNCHED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. SHE IS IN ADVERTISING FOR THE COMPANY, HER NAME IS MISS LABER. (PHOTO WAS TAKEN BY ME)

MISS DELLA ROSSA LOVES TO GARDEN, SHE HAS BEAUTIFUL ROSES SHE TENDS TO AS THOUGH THEY WERE HER OWN CHILDREN.  SHE ADORES CATS, AND ALWAYS HAS SOME TO KEEP HER COMPANY.  SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST MELLOW KINDRED ARTISTIC LOVELY PERSON'S I HAVE EVER HAD THE WONDERFUL ENJOYMENT IN LIFE OF HAVING AS A VERY DEAR FRIEND.

HERE IS A RECENT PHOTO OF MISS DELLA ROSSA.  SHE ADORES HATS AND HAS QUITE AN EXTENSIVE HAT COLLECTION.  (I KNOW THE PIXELS IN THE PHOTO AREN'T THE BEST).

AS TIME WENT BY, SHE AGAIN WENT TO CHICAGO WITH ANOTHER DESIGN LINE OF HERS, IN WHICH SHE USED THE STRIPPED TICKING FABRIC TO MAKE MEN'S SHIRTS AND WOMENS SHIFT-STYLE DRESSES.  SHE WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL IN THAT LINE OF CLOTHING TOO, AND OF COURSE EVERYWHERE ONE BEGAN SEEING THE STRIPPED TICKING FABRIC BECOMING VERY POPULAR AND IT STILL IS A MAINSTAY OF FRENCH DESIGN INCLUDING BEDDING AND PILLOWS, AND ALSO CLOTHING.

JUST SOME INTERESTING FASHION FACTS FROM A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF MINE WHOM I WAS ABLE TO VISIT A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN I WENT DOWN TO SEE MISS DELLA ROSSA IN HER MARVELOUSLY DECORATED HOME WHERE HER STUDIO HAS WALLS DECORATED WITH HER VINTAGE DESIGNS TAKEN FROM FASHION MAGAZINES OF THE 1960'S.

HERE IS ANOTHER VIEW OF THE 'BRA DRESS'.  MISS DELLA ROSSA USED UP-SCALE FABRICS AS YOU CAN SEE THIS IS WOOL WITH A WHITE CREPE TOP.  VERY, VERY CHIC!

I remember the bra- dress! My Mom loved it! As in " the big eyed dolls" recent movie, where there is money to be made there are sharks in the water.
I sincerely hope your friend is well and joyful, Yes a book is an excellent idea, having a wonderful idea is one thing , protecting is quite another nightmare.
I enjoyed your story very much, thank you for sharing this!

Oh wow! Miss Della Rosa sounds like an absolutely fabulous person. I adore this post! It was like a wee peek into the life of someone incredible and fabulous.

My apologies for the lack of posts lately. I am actually taking a few steps back from blogging so I'm not really posting much lately. I am more into Facebook and Instagram now.

What a fascinating read and such a shame that her idea was stolen by many and to have a husband do that to her hard earned money too. Thank you so much for teaching us about her x
