SINCE ONE OF OUR SONS IS GOING TO COLLEGE IN LOS ANGELES, IT GIVES US EXTRA OPPORTUNITIES TO VISIT LOVELY, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

IF YOU WANT THE THRILL OF A LIFETIME IN FLEA MARKETS, THE SECOND SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH IS A MIND BOGGLING EXPERIENCE.

THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET
THE ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET IS HELD IN THE HUGE PARKING LOT OF THE ROSE BOWL.

THE FLEA MARKET OPENS AT 5:30 A.M. FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PAY THE PREMIUM PRICE OF $20 TO ENTER, AND YOU DO BEAT SOME OF THE CROWDS AND YOU MAY FIND THAT PERFECT ITEM AT THAT EARLY HOUR.

THEN, THERE IS THE NEXT FEE, WHICH BEGINS AT 7:30 A.M. FOR $12, AND AT 8:30 A.M. IT IS $10, AND FROM 9 A.M. UNTIL 3 P.M. IT IS $8 PER PERSON TO ENTER THE FLEA MARKET.  YOU MAY ALSO HAVE YOUR HAND STAMPED FOR REENTRY ALL DURING THE FLEA MARKET.

THERE IS A FOOD COURT ON THE PREMISES WITH A VARIETY OF FOODS.  WE ACTUALLY BROUGHT OUR COOLER AND PACKED OUR OWN SANDWICHES AND HAD OUR HANDS STAMPED AND WENT BACK TO OUR CAR TO EACH OUR LUNCH TAIL-GATE STYLE.

VINTAGE TOYS, VINTAGE GLASSWARE, AND GOODIES ARE  IN ABUNDANCE
THERE ARE LITERALLY ROWS UPON ROWS, AND AISLES UPON AISLES OF WARES.

UNIQUE ITEMS ARE FOR SALE ALONG WITH THE MOST POPULAR COLORS OF FURNITURE AND WARES

A CUSTOMER ENJOYS LOOKING THROUGH AN ABUNDANCE OF CLOTHING OF WHICH THERE SEEMS TO BE NO END
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR VINTAGE LINENS, THIS FLEA MARKET IS THE PLACE TO COME
WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?   YOU KNOW THE SONG!  ACTUALLY I SLIPPED IN A HANDMADE FOX  PHOTO, ON ACCIDENT, WHICH SOMEONE IS SELLING ON ETSY.  IT IS SO CUTE!
MORE FOXES
SHABBY CHIC WAS FOUND ON EVERY ISLE
THERE WERE LITERALLY ROWS AND ROWS OF CLOTHING FROM $20, $10, AND $5
AND....AFTER YOU HAVE WALKED FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS AMONG ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES...THERE IS A FOOT BRIDGE YOU CROSS OVER INTO EVEN MORE COLLECTIBLES, ART SUPPLIES, VINTAGE CLOTHING AND GENERAL MECHANDISE
YES, DO REMEMBER TO WEAR A COMFORTABLE PAIR OF SHOES, AND A HAT AS IT DOES GET QUITE SUNNY AND WARM, EXCEPT FOR IN THE MORNING HOURS WHERE YOU WILL NEED TO WEAR A SWEATER.

FUN IDEAS FOR YOUR VINTAGE LACES
MIXED MEDIA EMBELLISHMENTS
VINTAGE JEWELRY IS EVERYWHERE TOO!
AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE AISLES AND AISLES OF THINGS TO SEE AND YOU MAY JUST FIND THAT UNIQUE ILLUSIVE ITEM YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR.
THERE ARE FRENCH STYLE COTTON LINENS AND GARDENING DECOR
EVERY STYLE OF HAT YOU CAN THINK OF!
MANY ORIENTALS VISIT THE ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET AS IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AS IT IS WORLD FAMOUS AND IS ONE OF THE LARGEST FLEA MARKETS IN THE WORLD.
I ENJOYED FINDING AND BUYING SOME PURPLE AND AQUA VINTAGE BOTTLES (IN THE LOWER LEFT PHOTO) AND ALSO FABRICS AND TRIMS (IN THE RIGHT TOP PORTION OF THE PHOTO)
MORE SHABBY CHIC DECOR
VINTAGE LIGHTING FIXTURES OF ALL DESCRIPTIONS
VINTAGE BOOKS...SOME OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS!
AH! YES! AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE FOOD COURT NEAR THE FRONT OF THE ROSE BOWL STADIUM.  HISPANIC, ASIAN, AND AMERICAN FOOD.
MORE FRENCH STYLE FURNISHINGS AND LINENS

VINTAGE FURNITURE, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, TYPEWRITERS, PAINTINGS, YOU NAME IT....IT WILL BE THERE!
AND THAT'S ABOUT ALL FOLKS!

I TOOK MY TIME GOING THROUGH THE FLEA MARKET AND STILL COULD HAVE WALKED ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF LOOKING AT EVERYTHING.  MY HUSBAND AND SON WERE ABLE TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE FLEA MARKET.  (WOMEN ALWAYS HAVE TO LOOK AT EVERYTHING, YOU KNOW!!!).  BUT I HAD MY FUN AND MY FEET WERE GETTING TIRED.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET IN PASADENA, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHICH IS VERY NEAR TO DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES WHICH IS WHERE WE WENT NEXT TO SEE 'THE LAST BOOKSTORE'.

THE LAST BOOKSTORE: PHOTOS

THE NEXT PHOTOS ARE OF: THE LAST BOOKSTORE WHICH OPENED IN 2011 AND IS ON THE CORNER OF SPRING STREET AND FIFTH AVENUE.  THERE IS CURBSIDE METERED PARKING AVAILABLE.

THE LAST BOOKSTORE IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.  THIS PHOTO DOES NOT DO THE ENTRANCE JUSTICE AS THE STORE IS TWO STORIES TALL.
THIS PHOTO DEFINITELY DOES THE STORE JUSTICE AS THERE IS ANOTHER PORTION TO THE STORE UPSTAIRS.
THIS IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE UPSTAIRS PORTION WHICH IS CALLED 'THE LABYRINTH' AS THERE ARE TWISTS AND TURNS OF BOOK CASES WHICH LEAD YOU ON A MERRY TWIST BACK TO THE STAIRWAY.
A TUNNEL OF VINTAGE BOOKS WHICH LEADS THROUGH THE LABYRINTH.  MANY LIBRARIES HAD TO DESTROY OLD BOOKS AS THEY CONTAINED LEAD IN THEM, SO THESE VINTAGE BOOKS WERE NOT DESTROYED BUT WERE PUT TO A UNIQUE USE.
THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE LANDING BEFORE ENTERING UPSTAIRS TO THE LABYRINTH.
A YOUNG MAN IN THE STORE STANDING BY THE COUNTER WHERE YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE.  THE COUNTER IS HELD UP BY HUNDREDS OF VINTAGE BOOKS.
THIS WAS A UNIQUE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE FOR OUR FAMILY AS WE DO LOVE READING BOOKS!

IT WAS QUITE AN ENJOYABLE TIME HAD BY ALL.

As much as I LOVE flea markets, that bookstore is a place I could sit in for hours, not just reading, but watching. There are what seem to be like "ghosts" of a past that each book reveals, and to just be in a place that houses other peoples' ideas is a wonder to me.

My dear,it is so good to see you! Thank you for coming and also for REACTING to what I wrote, though I think I have a long way to go to being a real poet (blog posts are not good opportunities for me to work on a poem) but if I can move anyone to tears, laughter, thought, then I've done what I've intended to do.

Celebrate the unending glory of our savior! Anita

Oh my! This does look like the most fabulous day out! Thank you for taking us there vicariously with the photos you took. It does look wonderful. I love the tunnel of book. (I hate to see books being destroyed.) Thank you for popping over to my doll blog and leaving such a sweet comment! Your support means a lot to me, dear Teresa.

Wow Teresa, that was one massive market. It is like a dream place for me. Was drooling for those vintage linens. How I wish I could go there when I finally make it to America. And the books, incredibly arranged.

Thank you for sharing this wonderland.

Yowzers! What a cool bookstore! Will check it out someday soon!

Thanks so much for sharing about the Rose Bowl flea market!!!
My Pops is nuts about buying vintage stuff at flea markets and is planning on visiting me soon. So I had kept wishing to find out where a good flea market would be to take him. And whaddya know, you've showed me a fantastic one! How cool that there's even a seller of clock parts - haha! My Pops has many non-working old cameras and typewriters. I used to gripe about 'em cluttering our home, but now I sure have come to love 'em too. Thanks for this GREAT and helpful info post!
