I DO ENJOY CREATING MIXED MEDIA CANVASES. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THEMES IS 'ALICE IN WONDERLAND'.
I HAVE BEEN GRADUALLY CREATING A CANVAS WITH COPY-RIGHT FREE GRAPHICS OF VINTAGE ALICE ILLUSTRATIONS. I AM ALSO ADDING MY OWN EMBELLISHMENTS.
HERE ARE SOME VERY ROUGH DRAFT PHOTOS OF THE BEGINNING OF MY ALICE CANVAS. I HOPE TO TRANSFORM THIS MIXED MEDIA CANVAS SO THAT IT WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZABLE FROM THIS VERY PLAIN BEGINNING.
THE SIZE OF THE CANVAS IS 16" BY 24".
BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE PHOTOS FOR A LARGER VIEW.
THIS FIRST PHOTO IS AS FAR AS I HAVE PROGRESSED. THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS ARE VARIOUS PHASES IN CREATING THE CANVAS.
ALSO, ON THE THEME OF THE CHESHIRE CAT. I HAD BEEN WORKING ON A PAPER CLAY CAT, AND FINALLY FINISHED HIM. IT WENT TO MY SON WHO COMPLETED ARCHITECT COLLAGE LAST FALL. HE HAD DRAWN ME A CHESHIRE CAT WITH A UNI-BALL ROLLER BLACK PEN, AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH, SO HE RECEIVED THE CHESHIRE CAT FROM ME!
I WILL BE ADDING MORE EMBELLISHMENTS TO MY ALICE CANVAS. SO BE SURE TO PEAK IN ONCE IN A WHILE TO SEE HOW THE CANVAS HAS PROGRESSED. YOU WON'T RECOGNIZE IT ONCE I AM FINISHED. AND I HOPE THAT IS A GOOD THING!
HAVE A VERY BLESSED WEEK AND THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!

THIS IS ACTUALLY AS FAR AS I HAVE PROGRESSED WITH THE ALICE IN WONDERLAND MIXED MEDIA CANVAS. |
I HAVE BEGUN WITH THE WHITE RABBIT'S HOUSE IN THE CENTER OF THE CANVAS. |
BELOW THE HOUSE IS THE MAD TEA PARTY. |
AT THE TOP LEFT SIDE IS THE CHESHIRE CAT IN THE TOP OF A TREE. |
AT THE BOTTOM LEFT I HAVE ALICE CONTEMPLATING HERSELF IN WONDERLAND. I HAVE ADDED A CHESS BOARD BOTTOM LANDSCAPE. |
FRONT VIEW OF THE CHESHIRE CAT |
'SITTING IN AN ENGLISH GARDEN WAITING FOR THE SUN'... A LINE FROM THE BEATLES...ACTUALLY IT'S IN A CALIFORNIA GARDEN! |
THE TOP SIDE OF THE CHESHIRE CAT. |
HE FITS IN THE PALM OF MY HAND. |
ANOTHER SIDE OF THE CHESHIRE CAT. I ADORE GINGER CATS, SO THAT IS WHY I PAINTED HIM ORANGE AND BLACK. THIS IS MY FOURTH CHESHIRE CAT TO CREATE. BELOW IS MY FIRST CHESHIRE CAT. |
THIS IS A PHOTO OF THE VERY FIRST CHESHIRE CAT I CREATED. |
AND HERE IS THE FIRST CHESHIRE CAT SITTING IN MY DOLL CABINET OF CURIOUSITIES. |
A CHESHIRE CAT MURAL PAINTED IN THE ART'S DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES, WHICH WAS ONLY FIVE STREETS AWAY FROM WHERE MY SON'S ARCHITECTURAL COLLEGE WAS WHICH HE ATTENDED. |
AND A PICTURE OF OUR BACK-DOOR NEIGHBORS GINGER CAT ZOEY. HE LOVES TO COME VISIT US! |
AND HERE IS A COPY-RIGHT FREE ALICE ILLUSTRATION WITH THE SHEEP FOR YOUR OWN DOWNLOADING ENJOYMENT. THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALICE DRAWINGS. |
HAVE A VERY BLESSED WEEK AND THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!

Michelle, I will really look forward to seeing how this evolves. What I see so far, I like very much! Alice is such a delightful subject. (And Zoey is really touching my heart this morning!)
What a treasure from your son!
TERESA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello! It is wonderful to see you again! First of all, CRAFT ON! There is nothing more satisfying than following in the footsteps of our maker, to create and be pleased! And the ultimate, to love, non?
Thank you so much for coming to visit my blog. Though I intend to stay and blog only once a month, I am finding that is even more difficult. But dear friends like you, Penny and many others make it all worth while. I hope you are well, and yes, our temperatures out here are fluctuating. We had snow yesterday, but this weekend promises sun and 50+ YAHOOO!
Your are so talented. I love the Alice In Wonderland Collage and can't wait till you finish it. The scuplture and the drawn card from your son I love them all! My daughter likes to collage and usually around mother's day or birthdays I get a collaged card from her. Take care, Darlene
Oh, wow! I love the canvas. Beautiful work! Also, just thrilled to see little Alice there in your cabinet, with all her wonderland friends.
Teresa,
It was so kind of you to come for a visit and leave such a sweet note.
I love the drawing your son has done for you, he is very talented.. And your CATS! Beautiful work!
Wishing you a joyful week
fondly,
Penny
I don't know why I missed this post, but glad I found it now...can't wait to see the progression of this canvas *and the cheshire kitty is awesome* :D XXX
I love this post! When I was young I adored the Cheshire Cat. You have shared some great ones here. x
Greetings my friend! I love what I see so far! I love Alice too and am the proud owner of an original Alice made by Nicol Sayre. God is good to me Teresa inspite of my emotional and psychological struggles. I continue to take one day(moment) at a time. I hope you're in a good place and invite you to stop by my site to get a big Alice fix. I do see you on Maida Facebook although I haven't been to your lovely site for a while. It is in my heart to do so but don't hold it against me if I don't visit regularly. I think of you often and of the bond we have made over the years on the web. Hope to hear from you soon. Love, Jan
Your canvas is looking beautiful!
