HELLO, EVERYBODY!
I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON AN ORNAMENT EXCHANGE WHICH INCLUDES THREE DIFFERENT ORNAMENTS. THESE ARE YEAR ROUND ORNAMENTS A PERSON CAN DISPLAY ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE.
THIS IS THE FIRST ORNAMENT I HAVE ALMOST COMPLETED. IT IS A SPOOL DOLL ORNAMENT, AND THE TECHNIQUE I LEARNED FROM Jo AnnA OF MOSS HILL STUDIO BLOG IN 2008.

I RAIDED MY CRAFT ROOM SUPPLIES AND BEGAN PAINTING AND GLUING THESE EMBELLISHMENTS ONTO THE SPOOL. I APPLIED ALLENE'S TACKY GLUE ONTO THE SPOOL AND BEGAN WINDING THE HEAVY STRING EVENLY SPACED LIKE THREAD ONTO A SPOOL. AFTER THE GLUE DRIED (24 HOURS) I GLUED A DOLL HEAD TO THE TOP OF THE SPOOL WITH THE TACKY GLUE. IT WAS A PROCESS OF GLUING AND PAINTING AFTER THAT. AND THE DOLLY'S EYES WERE GLUED OPEN WITH A TOUCH OF GLUE ONTO THE EYE LIDS. THEN I PAINTED THE HEAVY STRING THE COLOR OF MY CHOICE. I FOUND SOME CROCHETED LACE AND SCRUNCHED THE LACE UP TO FORM UPPER AND LOWER WINGS WHICH I GLUED THE TOP ONES ON AND LET THEM DRY. AND THE NEXT DAY, I GLUED THE BOTTOM WINGS ON. I ADDED MORE LACE AROUND THE DOLLY'S HEAD GLUING IT IN PLACE. I DID USE THE GREEN YARN AND GLUED IT ONTO THE HEAD FOR HAIR. I PAINTED THE WINGS, AFTER THE THE GLUE DRIED. I SATURATED THE WINGS WITH PAINT, AND MADE SURE I PUT SARAN WRAP AROUND EVERYTHING ELSE SO THE PAINT WOULD NOT FLOW ONTO ANYTHING BUT THE WINGS. I ALSO PAINTED THE DOLL'S FACE WITH SECRET TECHNIQUES I LEARNED WHILE TAKING Jo AnnA's BELLA ART DOLL CLASS (WHICH IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE BUT Jo AnnA HAS OTHER CLASSES TO OFFER). PLEASE CHECK OUT Jo AnnA's MOSS HILL STUDIO SITE WITH A WEB SEARCH. |

HERE IS WHAT THE ANGEL DOLL ORNAMENT LOOKS LIKE SO FAR. I STILL NEED TO PAINT THE HAIR ANOTHER COLOR AS I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE WOOL ROVING IN ITS NATURAL SHADE. SHE DOES LOOK A BIT LIKE MARIE ANTOINETTE WITH HER HAIR PILED HIGH ON HER HEAD. PLEASE CLICK ON THE PHOTOS FOR A LARGER VIEW. IT MAY TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO CONNECT. |
|
HERE IS THE BACK VIEW OF THE ANGEL DOLL ORNAMENT. I STILL NEED TO ADD AN EMBELLISHMENT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINGS. (I USED ANOTHER SPOOL FOR THIS PHOTO JUST TO BALANCE THE DOLL AS SHE WAS LYING DOWN.) I ALSO NEED TO ADD A CLEAR SEALER TO THE DOLL'S FACE AND ALSO SEALER ON THE PAINTED THREAD. |
THANK YOU FOR VIEWING WHAT I AM CREATING. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED WITH THE COMPLETED DOLL ORNAMENT IN ABOUT ANOTHER WEEK. IT IS A TEDIOUS PROCESS OF GLUING AND PAINTING WITH DRYING IN BETWEEN ALL COATS OF PAINT AND WITH THE GLUING ON OF THE HAIR AND EMBELLISHMENTS.
I HAVE TWO MORE DIFFERENTLY STYLED ORNAMENTS TO COMPLETE. I WILL BE POSTING ABOUT THOSE ORNAMENTS AS I PAINSTAKINGLY GO ABOUT THAT PROCESS.
I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THIS POST AS MUCH AS I HAD POSTING ABOUT IT!!!

Hi Teresa,
Sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you. Thanks for your comment on my blog. Yours looks fantastic. I am going to spend more time looking at it later, but for now I only see the comments page & no way to email you. Am I wrong?
Let's explore further. I'm about to do downtown LA part 2 f.y. i. even closer to Sci Arc.

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving such kind words.

Hello my sweet friend! If I hadn't looked at my older post, I would not have known you came by for a visit and such a kind comment! Thank you and I agree that we live in a too fast paced society! Habit is established whether good or bad, and from that we all continue to miss out on the process instead of learning from it. Life is going too fast!
This is your logo, isn't it! So this is what you do....OK, now I can see the "process!" How wonderful. Love those doll heads and what you do with them my friend!
Many hugs and prayers to you for a happy and sensational September! Anita
These are super cute! Thank you for stopping by my blog yesterday.
